Just purchased a damaged 504F. Previous owner tried to close the tailgate with a bale under it. By doing this, the tailgate got all bent out of shape. Does anyone know who might have a used tailgate assembly from a parted out baler?

Many, many thanks guys. I checked with the dealer in Arkansas, who forwarded me to a dealer in Ohio, who forwarded me to a dealer in Montana, who forwarded me to a dealer near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan who has a parted out 504F with a good tailgate that is now on its way to me. $550.00 plus shipping. Thanks again

Take a picture of the baler's tail-gate and send it to us. We might have some ideas you have not thought of. [email protected]

You might try the implement salvage yards near you....how badly is it bent? Will it just not latch or is it completely twisted?

The rear gate on the 605H I have got bent enough so it wouldn"t latch last summer when a hydraulic hose blew, I ended up chaining it down and putting a bottle jack on the side to get it pushed back straight....

Some other folks have recomended trying to use the hydraulics to straighten the rear gate, chain down the high side and try and open the gate, try closing it on a 4x4 piece of wood, etc.

I tried all that and then ended up using the 20 ton bottle jack to straighten the pieces that were bent after chaining down the rear gate.

That fixed it right up...only took 15 minutes to fix it once I figured out how far to open the gate before putting the chain on it and where to put the bottle jack.

I would try calling around to long time Vermeer dealers. Since it is a 504 more that likely they will not have a junk one to part out. Depends on your part of the country. Ross Rogers Equip in Scraton Arkanas might be a could place to start.

There is a frame member piece behind the wheels that often cracks also when that happens. Suggest you check that out.
