Help identify Allis Chalmers Hay Rake

I have a ground drive AC hay rake that I would like to identify. The closest I can get with some pictures on the net and an operators manual that I bought online is a 77G or 78, but the manual for the 77G has a gear box and 5 bars. The rake that I have has 4 bars, 20 tines each in groups of 2. It has rubber tines now, but I suspect that at some point it may have had all metal spring tines with clips. The height is adjustable by a crank at the front center which adjust the basket through two cables. The cables are attached to large springs that make the basket "float". The level of the basket can be adjusted side to side by a pivot plate in the center above the crank that is attached to the two cables. By pulling back a pin the plate can be rotated from side to side and move one side of the basket up and the other down. The drive is through a straight axle with rachet drives at each wheel. There is a dis-engage mechanism mounted to the pulley on the left side of the axle which is dis-engaged with a rope pull (if it wasn't welded together). From this pulley a belt connects to the reel. I have not found any markings or numbers on anything other than a metal Farm Equipment Safety Rules sign that is riveted to the right frame support and matches one shown is the 77G manual. Any information or help identifying this rake would be appreciated.

Thanks MoMike, the axle on mine is not offset it's straight with the frame and has no universal joints. So based on what you said the AC bible showed, this shounds like a late model 77G. Do you have any idea what years the 4 bar, belt drive models were made? The manual for the 77G that I was able to find doesn't list anything about a 4 bar option nor does it list the years covered. What does the G designate in the model number and was there just a model 77?

I have a rake like that, didn't know the model until now. I like the belt drive which eliminates gearbox troubles. Rakes really well.

Follow-up to previous post. Got my AC bible out and checked, the early 77G's had a chain and gear box drive, they came in 4 bar 80 tooth or 5 bar 100 tooth versions.

If the axle is offset, paralell with the rake basket, and belt driven it is a model 78. Mine is 5 bar but the manual says it also came in 4 bar version. Hope this helps.
