transport widths on 20' batwings

Hi, I live in Louisiana and my business associate has several highway contracts for mowing. Right now all he has are 15' cutters, but it would save a lot of time if we could get at least one 20' batwing out there, particularly on this one interstate section I'm thinking of.

But the concern is the transport widths of the 20 footers. How wide are they folded up, and how wide is too wide to haul on an 8' 6" wide gooseneck without an oversize load permit. Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this.

i would think that i would be researching some of the fix a flat type sealers for tractor tires that are going to be run in a situation like this to help avoid alot of down time. i live in n al and most of the tractors down here use the frail mowers so it want throw stuff out into the road way or into passing cars. your opening yourself up to alot of law suits i hope you know. most of the tractors are four wheel drive and have frail mowers on both sides and in the back on the three point hitch.

Before I retired I worked for the D.O.T. here in Massachusetts. In this area we found that the roadsides on the interstate was to soft. We tried a couple of 20' batwings they were to heavy and had to go back to 16's
the 20' ones are just about 8' wide in the transport mode.

Most 20 footers have 6 foot wings, so that would leave 8 feet in the middle. I expect it is a little wider than that, but should fit on that trailer with no problem.
