small s. propelled windrower... like 10ft?

I posted earlier about hooking a mower to my ASV. I now think that I would be best served with "the real deal".

I make grass hay from pastures & orchards. Sometimes I sow red clover specifically for hay. Anyhow, I need to get into some tight places (don't worry, my baler can handle tight).

I think I might as well bite the bullet and buy a self propelled windrower. BUT it needs to be a small one, like 10 foot.

Considering the price of disk windrowers, I am looking for a small sickel windrower, a used one. Though it would be great if i could find a disk that cheap, i think it unlikely. A conditioner would be nice, but not necessary. If it had one, I'd want to be able to take it off.

Can anyone think of a manufacturer who produces or used to produce a small self propelled windrower? A 12 would likely work.

If I could get a make, it would help me with my search.

Thanks,
flinny

I have a Hesston 310 that I bought for $600. It's a '68 but still runs good. It has an 8' head and it conditions too. I used it today until I lost some bolts out of a bearing bracket, I think it's still good but I'll get a new one anyway while it's apart. It's not very fast going down the road at all, maybe 8mph. I know Hesston made other models, I found this one here in the photo ads. You might want to try Ebay also.

the clover is mixed with grass.

it seems to dry just fine with thin windrows, or has till now.

like to keep the clover leaves whole

to each his own, i guess.

thanks for the feedback, always good to get

Owatonna used to make a ten foot model- about 50 years ago. MF had a model 36. JD 800 comes in many sizes, including 12 foot. Still many of them around, made in the 70s.

from my searching, it looks like 12' is about the minimum if you want something relatively recent. I can always cut less that the full swath, though how consistent the resulting windrow is is an issue.

I found a 12'NH 1495 year 1980 from a farmer not too far away. he's asking $4500

Anyone experienced with a NH 1495?

editorial comment: i suspect there are more small grass farmers in our countries future, for a variety of reasons. some equip manufactures best get with the program.

thanks,
flinny

A Versatile 103 with the V4 Wisconsin motor
came as a 15ft. With a sharp sickle, they would cut well. Simple and cheap machine. Take a smaller cut with it if necessary.
