Ok I am looking for a rough idea of value on this John Deere one bottom Trip plow. I live in Michigan.
The plow is on Steel wheels. the mold board has a bad spot where it rusted through looks like just above where the plow share goes. I am not sure if guys weld these up or if it is just no good? I know this had been used lots in recent years with the rust hole.
any idea on value?
Chad

Well, I am sure Leroy is right that it is a No. 51 plow. I can't tell you what it might be worth now, but they were $125 (new) in 1943 when Dad bought our first tractor (a Model "B"). We used it until about 1947 when we upgraded the "B" and went to a 2-12" plow...big time, for sure.

That would be a model 51 plow and that you are calling a rust hole would not be rust hole but wear through and depending on how bad it is if it could be repaired. If it is wanted to use the entire bottom could be replaced with one fron the earlier semi mounted series out of a parts yard and give you the new style throw away share for less than the price of a share if depending on what share if it was still avaible. Now if you are wanting to use it in competion plowing in the antique class that would not work. Now if it was in condition for that the value would be between $150 & $200

Thanks guys I really have no use for it but I was hopping to use it for leverage in other trades for tractors and stuff I need.
although I would not mind keeping it! My wifes grandpa is giving it to me so it is costing me nothing but gas money to get it home he is going to load it for me with his front loader.

Probably not much more than $100. Maybe less.
