Need info on MF 1560 rd baler twine arm setup

I've had this baler for several years, and it has never cut the twine right. I am trying to fix it, but can't figure out exactly how the twine cutter is supposed to work. I have looked at two different Vermeers, which appear to be identical balers, except the twine arm setup. They are very similar, but mine doesn't have the piece that bumps the twine cutter and makes it push up. Seems like mine may be missing some parts. Hard to explain, sorry. If anyone has some pictures they could post, or maybe some pictures from the owners manual or parts book, I would greatly appreciate it. This thing is driving me crazy, and I'm sick of cutting the twine by hand. Thanks, Nick

Your baler is the same as a 605F. The balers that you looked at were H models. The knife does need to be sharp. Even new knives for these balers need to be sharpened before use. I have modified cutters to accept a utility knife blade. There are pictures in implement photos, keyword "Vermeer". The piece that the knife bolts to should pivot when the arm gets to the cut position. The twine should also be pinced at the other end of the tube when in the cut position. It will be pinched between the tube and a large headed bolt.

I don't know a thing about that baler..... but all I can say with regard to twine knives in round balers is KEEP THEM SHARP. I have no end of misery with my Claas if the knife isn't razor sharp. Take the knife out, file it sharp, and then finish it on a whet stone.
