NH 276 knotter/cutter question

My 276 baler is working fairly well, but at each knot it is leaving a small (inch or two) piece of string that is cut completely away from the rest of the string. I am using poly right now and the rest of the process seems to be working alright...could be a tad bit tighter on the string.

I have ordered a manual but they sent me a manual for a loader, so I am waiting for the baler manual.

Anybody have an idea what I might look at or what the small piece of string might indicate? The cutting blades seem plenty sharp, not sure what else to consider. Thanks for any and all help.

It is normal for a piece of twine to be left after the knot is tied and twine is cut. This is whats left from the end that the twine disk holds during tying. Once the twine is cut the disk rotates and releases the piece of twine it was holding. It ends up under the knotter. You need to clean this off every once in a while.

Yes, Rasspe knotters ( or any other knotters that use that design) always do that. I used to call it "Retainer swarf".
