Does anyone have the dimensions for the pitman arm for this mower, mine rotted away. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks

Hi , Be prepared for a shock if you go to agco for a stick . I wasn't able to get one from any of the farm stores around here so I had one made from hickory or white oak ( I don't remember ) at the local sawmill . That cost me 5 bucks . The pitman is longer than most others . I can get a measurement tomorrow morning . It's somewhere around 40 inches I think . It's not exactly square either . If you make one make sure the grain is absolutely straight and runs vertically when the stick is on the machine . All the stress on the stick is at the top and bottom of it's throw on the drive end . Also make sure it's clean grain . Good luck , I'll get back tomorrow . ...Randy

Lay cutter bar on Ground. Set sickle to outer end of stroke, be sure sections are dead center of guards. Turn the pitman drive so that it is in the extreme outward stroke. You should have things positioned so you can measure for pitman length. You can tell thickness and width from the iron pieces from old pitman, if old wood is completely rotted away.This should give you enough info to buy a pitman blank, or make your own. The next thing to do is fit the hardware from the drive end on your pitman and attach it to the mower. Set the sickle at either in or out position and measure again. Set the sickle at the other end of stroke move the drive around to full inner position and remeasure. Both measurement should be the same. With the hard ware on the sickle knob you should be able to fine tune pitman length and using hardware for pattern cut and drill where needed and you should be ready to go.Once you have assured yourself that you measurement are good make two more pitman arms. If you break one you have one ready to put in and one for a pattern to make another one. This helps keep downtime to a minimum when one breaks. Hope I have been clear enough you at least have an idea to get started.
