What kind of HP will it take to run a Gehl 1400 round baler. Grassy hay on level ground. Any other comments on a 1400.
Thanks,
DJ

I pulled my 1400 with a 4000 ford diesel, 50 hp. I have some very hilly fields. on the hills you know the balers behind you, on the level its good. last year I added a 5610 ford tractor, 64 hp works much better with the 1400.

I use to have one good but old baler already. I use my Oliver 1655 and that is about 70 hoarse power tractor. I would think 60 to 70 hoarse power range would be the best.
