What is a square bale pop up loader?

I keep seeing some of these advertised and was wondering what they are. Does anyone have a picture of one and how it works?

Everyone here is right. I spent many hours standing beside one. Like most equipment there were several brands and styles. Some would load the bale and push it straight up vertically and the others looked more like a slide. I liked the slide better myself. Had better angle to grab the bale and if it got to the top before you could get it, it would hang on the end. (unless another bale was right behind it and then it would push it off) With some of the vertical ones the driver had to stop if it got to the top. Seemed like the vertical type chewed some bales up more too.(Sorry so long a post)

Bob,
I was on the receiving end of one of those in the summer of 67. The one we used would bring the hay about 3 feet higher than the truck bed and then it was spring loaded so when you had several layer of hay on the truck you could lift it to the upper most position and you could finish loading the truck. A lot nicer than throwing bales from the ground but still you handled all by hand.

Yea Ken is right it basically is a bale elevator that is pulled alongside the wagon or truck and lifts the bales off the ground up in the air and drops them down.

It sounds like what we call a GEORGE around here. It rides on the side of a wagon or flatbed and is ground driven. It picks up the bale and hoists it up overhead to the stacking crew.
