Hello.

I have just aquired from my father an A-C model 80 sickle mower. (80R3?) It looks to be converted to a 3 point and is in pretty good condition. Anyway, There is a plug that is on top of the "twin wheel" housing and I assume some type of lubricant goes in there. Does anybody have any idea about the type and how much? Where can I get a manual for this thing? Will Slip plate coating work in place of oil for the sickle, or reduce wear on the bar?

Thanks for any help you can offer.
Rob

Asking this on the forum "Unofficial Allis" will likely get you the needed parts. I've had both snap coupler and 3 pt versions of the 80R and they are a great mower. I'd recommend putting NH Haybine double guards on the bar. Mike M

So the NH haybine guards will fit? Cool. I got my operators manual in the mail today. It already has enlightend me. The part that I am looking for is called a flywheel housing. And now I know it has a grease zerk in it. So I think I"ll need a parts manual for a part number. I dropped the flywheel housing on my foot on Sunday off of the workbench. I broke 3 toes in 4 places, and dislocated one. Ouch, and this really sux.

Bad news. I have just dicovered that the flange tht holds one of the twinwheel bearing housings is broken off. The flange itself is broken away from the iron housing and the flange is in 4 pieces. Is there a new or used one that I can buy?

If not, what are thoughts on welding it back together? Don"t care what they say, this is beyond JB Weld.
Thanks for any help.
Rob

If I remember it was 80 or 90 weight gear oil. Also if I remember right that plug also was a breather so you want it a little less than half full or it will leak out when the cutter bar is raised in the transport position.
