What can I spray to kill the dandelions in my Alf/Timothy/Orchard field?

Nothing this year. There is a product labeled for grass/alfalfa that will provide dandelion control. It's call Sencor. It must be applied during the winter during the dormant period. Also it will hurt your grasses some. I've used it to maintain a more balanced alfalfa/grass blend. When the grass starts taking over a stand I will hit it with Sencor to maintain the alfalfa in the mix for a couple more years. I have no idea how it works on dandelions as I don't have a dandelion problem, but they are on the label. Something to consider for next year, but I stress, it will damage your grass some.

Hi Joe,

Like the guys below said I don't think there is anything to spray on it.

But I think there is a label for Sencor, you impregnate with dry fert and then applie on the field early in the spring, that will control them. We have done it before and it does work.

Check with you local ag chem supplier.

Hope this helps.

Rick

Joe: Gary is right, nothing. If your in the same situation as we are, get after the notill cash croppers in your area about not spraying until after the dandilions go to seed. Every year vast acreages of dandilions go to seed in corn and beans, due mainly to the fact cash croppers are into roundup ready beans and corn. They are only kidding themselves, as I'm sure those dandilions are suppressing the early growth of corn and beans. If I were an alfalfa grower, I'd be raising hell.

I'm not suggesting Gary is one of the cash croppers doing that. In fact I'll bet he's not, his profit margin on corn and beans is too good for that.
