Hey Guys, I'm looking at getting a New Holland twine baler. My question is, do you have to change anything on the knotters to run plastic twine in them? I do custom baling but have a wire baler now. I've had a twine baler but have never messed with the plastic twine in one.

Gary ,A NH 275 is a good baler. There really is no adjustment needed to run plastic twineso long as the knotters are not out of normal adjustment and the knife arm is sharp(VERY IMPORTANT)If the knife arm is dull or knicked it will not cut the plastic twine all the way and can give allkinds pf problems but other than that no other adjustments are required.

Gary- there used to be a different bill hook you could get from NH for plastic but I"m not sure if you still can. I know people who run both sisal and plastic and have very few problems with either one as long as the knotters aren"t worn to bad. As for bananna bales, all it takes is some adjustment in the feeder carriage. Make sure all of the hay dogs and springs are good, put 3 sets of wedges in the bale chamber, adjust the feeder carriage per the manual and you shouldn"t have a problem with bananna bales. My 273 which is about the same as a 275 likes a double raked windrow and second gear on my eight speed tractor. It makes a nice brick bale and rarely ever will one break after it goes through the thrower and onto the wagon.

Gary,my brother tried to bale with a NH 275 and never could get it adjusted where it wouldn't make banana shaped bales. Tx Jim
