Does it have a cast body or sheet metal? I don't know when they were made....but I have a 1-B with the cast body and the old man I bought it from said his dad bought it new in 1942. They had turned it over and broke the flywheel, so I added a 16" pulley and motorized it....sounds like a machinegun when you feed the ears to it..zippppp p..LOL!

I have 4 different corn shellers, motorized all of them. If you ever desire to add a motor (the JD had the factory motor mount already on it), use a 1725 rpm motor..at least 1/2 hp, capacitor start. I would advise using about a 20" pulley if you can find one and a 1.5" on the motor...slows it down, but still faster than hand cranked speed.

As far as worth...depends on your market. I have paid as little as $25 and as much as $75. I have seen them bring $200 on ebay. I have an old Hocking Valley, a New Idea, IH and the JD. My favorite is the New Idea.
