I recently aquired a McCormick Little Genius plow that is is pretty darn good shape. I plan on painting it up to pull behind my H. My question is in regard to the color scheme. I am sure that the frame itself is supposed to be red, with the wheels being white and the hubs being blue. Is this correct?

We are trying to restore one of these plows and have found conflicting information. We were told ERTL precision toys had the correct color scheme, but when compared to the IHP committe decisions the springs are listed under a different color. Which is correct? Black or Blue?

Anyone have any color pictures of 1920's model Little Genius plow!

Go to the Wisconsin Historical Society's web site and you will find "the minutes of IHC paint committee". It's a verbatium transcrip of how IHC wanted all of their equipment painted. There is section dealing with the little genius & #8 plows. The minutes are instructions to the various IHC factories on how to paint what they made.

This plow had never been painted . This was the way it originally was painted .

Sharp plow. Do you have a side shot of it so I can get an idea of how the rear half should look?

Nice looking plow you got there. Any idea what size those tires are?

the wheels should be more of a cream color than white. I believe the hubs should be red. The hitch and coulters should be black. The axles and tail wheel assembly should be blue with the wheel cream colored.

Yes, the IH white is more of a cream color.

Best looking plow in original paint I've ever seen! Hubs are blue, which is correct. When I painted my plow, according to Wi. Hist. Society, they told me the "Harvester Cream" paint number for the wheels has been lost thru the yrs...I ended up with IH 935 White, which is on grills of 460 and 560 tractors, makes a close match. Coulter arms are black. A match for the old "Harvester Blue" is NAPA #53 3736A. Lots of these plows were shipped to dealers without tires (WWII times); dealers and farmers always had used car tires so they were used. Tire sizes varied; some even had bigger tire on the lifting wheel. I use an old tire chain if wheel slides along when dropping plow in the ground.
Sure is fun to plow with. We have a plow day set for this Saturday, 28th, but looks like we will be rained out.
