JD 7000 planter question

i tried out my population monitor on my 7000 planter this past weekend, before planting i ran the end of the brush up and down the seed tube to see if the sensors were working, which none of the lights would go out, so i went on to plant, while planting row 3 went out and was counting. 1,2,4 stayed on and wouldn't count, anybody know what i need to do to fix the problem?

Too much graphite mixed with seed can cause this problem. If using graphite, use just enough to color the seed.

If you don't have gold plated connections and have the old tin plated ones, youn probably don't have good connections. The plated ones oxidize from seting.The best solution is to replace the connections.

On my monitor the light on the row you are counting will go out and the others will keep flashing. If you have the selector on population count for all rows, 1 light will go out for so long while it counts that row, then it will move to the next row and that row light will go out, the other lights all keep flashing It all depends on where you have the selector switch set at. Should be instructions on the monitor or in the manual.

Try switching the bad ones with a known good one to see if you dont just have a short in you wireing.

There are several possibilities. Sometimes the sensor is improved by washing with soap and water then rinsing and drying. Sometimes the windows have been frosted by the seed and that's no fix. Then replacment is the only solution.

Often there's a problem with a wire or connector. Sometimes that's helped with a contact cleaner.

HEY GERALD, I TOOK THE SEED TUBES OUT, CUT THE TIES AND CLEANED EACH SENSOR BY HAND, BUT IT STILL DID IT, DOES THE WIRES DISCONNECT DOWN AT THE SENSOR OR SOMEWHERE ELSE, LOOKED TO ME THAT THE WIRES WENT INTO THE SENSOR AND I DIDN'T SEE ANY PLACE TO DISCONNECT IT, BUT I MIGHT BE WRONG. WHEN I GET NEW ONES, CAN I GET JUST THAT OR HAVE TO GET A NEW SEED TUBE TOO?
