Well, I ended up with the FORD disc,12 footer. Paid $600.00. There are no decals left, but it sure looks like the 230's listed on Agdealer and Ironsearch. I think this is like FORDFARMER's 1973 disc, as it has the 3"x5" structural tubes, and the big main crossmember round tube on top is about 8-10" in diameter. It is still froze down in an orchard, so it will be a couple of more days before we get it home. Hugh MacKay, it does not look like Cockshutt. It will be a replacement for my FORD 220 ,3-pt hitch 10ft, disc-harrow.

Kent: I think the opinion that Oliver-Cockshutt supplied Ford with a line of disks must be US only. I think ford must have used another supplier here in Canada. There were a lot of Oliver and Cockshutt disks around Truro Nova Scotia, in the 50s, 60s and 70s. I've never seen anything in the Ford disk line up that remotely resembled the Cockshutt-Oliver disks.

Listening to Rod, I guess I best stay here in Ontario. There is all kinds on money floating around here. Why we even brag about paying more than necessary for an item, at least the born and raised Ontarians do, hell I been here long enough, I'm just as bad as they are. I planned to go to NS this summer for a vacation, gosh maybe I best stop in NB and rent an NB licence plate. Might get robbed with an ON plate.

On that subject Kent, how far off No.2 highway are you. I've been to Moncton 3 times since Christmas. Drove one way each time, always catch myself thinking where you might be. Got the feeling it's somewhere between Fredricton and Grand Falls.

Hi Hugh. I am about 5 minutes from the dam, West of Fredericton, off of the old Trans-Canada Hwy. The Hwy is permit only from the dam to the Scales at Hwy 3 exit. Give us a yell next time you are coming through. Kent in NB.

Kent: Send me an e mail with your phone number. I quite often get asked to make these trips on quite short notice. Last time I went through, delivering a new truck it was probably about mid day as I got to Moncton about 2pm. I was faced with waiting until 4 pm next day for my flight home. Net result, I've visited everyone I know in the Moncton area, wouldn't want to wear out my welcome by visiting the same folks every time.

Hi Kent,

What auction were you at? I was in Truro yesterday, and there were no shortage of deals there. It was mostly cheap.... unless there was 2 people looking for something. The jockeys were not running too much stuff.... and if you were guarding something, you did so at your own risk. Stuff was bought back.....

Hi Rod. This was the farm auction listed in Farm Focus. L. Jewett was cleaning up his farm prior to selling the property. What deals were there in Truro? Kent in NB.

Kent,

Just about everything was cheap there. IH 684 went for about 3 grand. She looked worked over pretty good, but that's a lot of tractor for the money, even if ya got to put a bunch in it. There were 2 3970 Deere harvesters that I ran to about 1800 bucks. One with a 7' pickup. Both mostly field ready. Needed less than the 3960 I've got now... Neighbours bought a 3940 for 675... Again, it could work, but needs knives. Got the 2 row corn head for 200 bucks.... Another buddy bought a 45'x8" PTO auger for 175. Little sweep, but nothing that can't be easily fixed.... There was handy 600 lots in total. Andy and Tony were both selling steady in 2 rings from 10:00 AM until about 5:30... She was just plain cheap. Nobody there with money. 4x4 was having his own auction, so he wasn't there, and Tim didn't seem to be working it too hard either. There's just no money around....

we used to have a cockshutt set of disk's ,they were green.Lol,you guys over there call Dennis old 4x4 tool?Between the three of us,we have the maritimes pretty well covered lol.Andrew's tractor service is selling out this saturday too.No reserves on anything used. There is even a 125 or so hp new Landini with a key switch that caught fire, minimal damage sells to the highest.Should be an interesting sale, lots of old goodies at that one. Also, did Kent say that L jewett is selling his farm or just a piece of land? Our neighbours are moving back there this summer to start farming on his (our neighbour's)inlaw's place (David Carlisle's farm )will be neighbours for Larry.

Phillip,

Yep, we call the old boy 4x4. He's a hell of a good fella too.
I got to ask about Andrew's too. They selling everything? You wouldn't happen to know if they have any Ford/NH 7740's there for scrap? I'm looking for a complete donor engine from one. I want the 304 Turbo. Don't care what it comes from so long as it's a 304 turbo.... Scrap is good enough, or a bad burn victim. I don't want to spend a pile of money on something good. Just want scrap with good castings so I can warm it up to where I want it.... Hollar if you see something.

We never see any advertising for those Truro sales!

They used to advertise that sale in the Focus... but mabey they didn't this time. We haven't been getting the Focus for 6 months or so now, and to be quite honest, I haven't really missed it. It's all second hand news now, or so it seems.... and about a month out of date. I think that may be why you didn't see an add for the sale. The last one they advertised in there came out about a week AFTER the sale. Didn't do much good. Otherwise, they sometimes advertise in the Chronically Horrid, but I don't get that either. I know it wasn't in the Cape Breton Post.....
People mostly know about it anyway, and call Frank to find out the day. It's a rite of spring over here.

Yeah. The Focus is really going downhill. I do enjoy the stories though.
