My recent auction purchase is a Massey-Ferguson #12 baler (I bought it cause it was attached to a Farmhand 8 pack) that sat for a long time in the weather. The plunger is stuck and stuck good. the plunger slide rails are worn, rusted, and swollen. Now, understand I have only owned a NH 269 and my current NH 272 with Wisconsin power. At first I thought I would just junk the Massey baler or sell it cheap for parts... but then I started noticing the metal is heavier-duty than the NH and the whole thing is VERY simple. The chains are tight. The knotters look to be in good condition and are holding the ends of long rotted twine. This might mean they work! Assuming I get the plunger out (ideas anyone?), does anyone know where I can get new/good slide rails? Thanks.

Markus, Baler must have been outside. Be SURE to
grind off rust under the rails before you bolt in
another set or plunger will be tight again. The
MF 12 was a great baler but depends how treated
for the last 35 years. Chuck
