Two years ago side yard was all woods. Cut down several trees and had the stumps ground. Last summer had a water line ran through the center. The yard is uneven and rough to mow. I have filled in the water line where it settled over winter but still need to level the whole yard and make it look better and be less rough on the Zero turn. It's about an acre in size-maybe a bit more. How do I do it. Some of the area has nice grass and some is weeds. I'll plant new grass but need to get it right before I do. Thanks in advance

Lots of folks use an old bedspring behind whatever they cam pull it with. A few rocks thrown on top may help penetration.

The best thing invented yet is the Harley Rake by Glenmac mfg. Grades, tills and levels all in one pass. Available at most rental yards in widths from 4-8'. Also available as a skidsteer attachment.

With the grass you can Re: LEVELING YARD in reply to SKYBOW, 04-19-2007 20:20:58
With the grass you can just cover the low spots with topsoil, water heavily the grass will come through.
You can grade over the grass with a back blade set for no cut or turned backwards to use the back of the blade you dont want to cut the sod!

A lot depends on what you have to work with. A tiller behind a tractor would work well then drag it. Or a disk behind a tractor then a dag either one or both will work well.
