Just looking for good advice on removing rust and paint prep for various implements (baler, side delivery rake). In past I've used wire wheel on a drill and naval jelly for rusty areas. What else works good? Do the rust converters work? I will not use a sandblaster, as my baler won't take kindly to it. Like to hear what products are good. thanks

I use POR-15 for a number of projects around my place, including the underside and frame of my Jeep. One thing to know about it is what it does under UV (sun) light. It discolors and oxidizes, which can be buffed out, but it's a hastle. They recommend ways you can avoid this and the product is as tough as nails and very smooth. I've been using BPS paints from Tractor Supply for my implements. Holds up pretty well, is inexpensive and has a nice finish. I don't like their rusty metal primer as much as I do Rustoleum though.

I did a rake last year and had good luck with a power washer. took off any loose paint and then used a good rusty metal primer. Used a wire brush also on some areas.

This past Sunday a friend talked to me about using POR-15 on his old jeep.

He was satisfied with the product and said he would use it again.

He was amazed how smooth the finish was after being applied with a brush.

I had previously read information about POR-15 on their website before his testimonial.

Yesterday I went back to their website and read more details on their products.

I have not used POR-15, but I am considering using it on my JD 640 hay rake.

More information on POR-15 is located at the link listed below.

Hope this helps.
