Help on ID JD disc

I posted here recently about replacing disc blades on one the front gangs of my JD tandem disc. So far I've done ok with getting the bolt and spools off the axle and I'm glad I did spray the bolts and spools with PB blasters and WD40. I'm going to install the blades this weekend but I need to replace some of the scrapers. In doing that, and since there's probably some different replacement (universal)scrapers out there, knowing the model number of this disc would help out. Next to posting a picture the disc is an older JD tandem disc with 16" blades, spoke wheels on rubber, 2 gangs in front and two in back with 8 blades on each gang, 8 foot wide, hyraulics and pulled at draw bar. Is there a ID tag or stamp somewhere on this disc? I know one way to check on a new scraper is to take a scraper to a JD dealer but I can almost assure you they will not have the part for this disc. They don't seem to inventory the older parts.

That sounds like a KBA disc if it flexes some. Newer I don't think would have the spoke wheels. The wheel bearings in those spoke wheels are the weak part and an 8 blade on a side is called a 9'10" disc acording to Deere while the 7 on a side that I have is 8'8" and the 6 on a side that I have is 7'6" and do you need the brackets as well as the blades for the scrapers or just the blades? And the newer blades there are both right and left and the brackets there are 4 different ones of those depending where on the frame they are located. The RW used the same scrapers. I have extras if interested.

Sounds like a KBA series. A good heavy old harrow. There should be a part number stamped into every part. Check the back side of the scrapers. May have to wire brush some of the rust but it should be there. Good luck.

The scrapers on most of the older JD disc will fit almost all of them you should be able to find lots of used ones there all the same up to the 210s and later.

You'll be surprised what you can still get from Deere. I put all new scrapers, springs, & pins & my KBL disk. You can order it all from the dealer but its not cheap. But why not, it should last me the rest of my life only disking a few acres & year with it & was cheaper than a brand new disk.

Your JD dealer should be able to search the computer parts listing and find a picture of the disc as you described it -then have a parts break down of the disc. They may not have the part but will be able to check inventory of most all other dealers. Then they can give you the phone numbers for those that have your part. They may have a cross reference to a replacement that they can order. I was looking for a clevis for a model 12 or 14 -3pt hitch for a rotary hoe, I had no model#, the dealer searched until we found a picture of the part. It was dicontinued and no longer available. They gave me a list of dealers that had the part, which I've called, the part was found -but for a 1/2 inch dia. clevis to put on equipment that I almost never use, $43.00 was alittle steep for a $12.00 part. I needed 3 of them, Think I'll make them.

Thanks. Well see that's a part of my concern is the dealer price. Whereas aftermarket parts are much cheaper (some may argue made cheaper too) but I'm not working 100's of acres, just 5 or 6 for my sweetcorn so i don't want to give an arm a leg or other body parts when I could possibly find it elsewhere at a better price...as I have on other parts. I guess I could go the dealer route and at least find out the model number and price.
