Need Advice from Allan/Others on Rollover Plows?

Allan -- Brother in Missouri may have severe damage to wheat crop due to last week's freezing temps - -thinking about plowing it under for green manure and to re-use the expensive nitrogen fertilizer already spread on it (too high in nitrates levels for haying). It's irrigated ground, thus thinking of trying to find a rollover plow similar to what Allan has previously posted photos being used in Nebraska. Are good condition rollover plows available used for decent prices in your area?

3 bottoms: I have seen them for little as $400. on the ads here. I Bought a nice 2 bottom Edwards 16" with IH bottoms for $100 last year (local). Edwards even came up with the original Manual and parts book they still had on file, it was sent FREE and the manual had my plows S/N wrote in the S/N space in the books! What more could a guy ask for?

There are lots of rollover plows in southeast Colorado due to the surface irrigation. Most are 4-bottom 18" and take at least 120 hp for the depths they are normally operated at (12" or so) in that area. You could probably make do with less power if you don't go so deep. Hitch lift capacity is also something to consider.
You may not find rollover plows for give-away prices like you do regular plows because in the areas that they are found, many are still being used.

Yes Sir,

They are used all the way up into Wyoming, the Dakotas, Idaho and Montana; any where beets and dry beans are grown and the prices will take ya back a little.

I know where there are two used 7 bottoms, but I would imagine that they would want a nickel or two for the dudes. Especially, since we are just coming into the plowing season in these parts.
