My neighbour has a MF 224 baler that she tore the pickup out of last year. Broke the castings for the pickup reels and bent the tine bars and a bunch of other stuff in there.

The replacement parts are insanly expensive.

I'm going to look at a MF120 baler that is part of a package deal of hay equipment I'm looking at. Would the pickup from this transplant? Is it even a decent baler? Worth fixing up a bit? I've got a JD 336 that works well and don't know much about the MF's and their funny knotters that seem to jam alot.

Phillip is right, the knotters have to be set just so...the pick-up reel should fit on the 224 and vise versa, the balers are i belive built on the same frame....at least the knotters are the same...

I'll have a good look over it. The owner from my best guess of our phone call is a failed hobby farmer trying to sell out. She has an offer in on the farm and equipment but she thinks the financing will fall through so the equipment will be fair game again. I sure hope it has a thrower on it.

i would be suprised if it didn't fit just fine.If you can get the parts cheap enough it should definately be worth fixing up.The massey balers were pretty good machines when you get them tuned up properly. The knives need to be sharp and placed close to get the string cut off well.I guess i probably didn't confidently answer the question as to weather it will fit or not,but if it does,i say it's worth it.
