I am looking at buying a trailor for hauling my JD A. It is a road warrior, dual axle, 16 ft (14FT flat and 2ft dove)
has electric brakes, spare tire, about 1000 miles on it, just about two years old.
Fenders do not come off.
What is a fair price to give for it?
Thinking that they are 3500 lb axles?

Any feed back is welcome

You might want to go with a trailer with 5000lb axles and with brakes on all 4 wheels be sure to check ball coupler for weight cap also some of the manufactures have been known to use undersize on trailers I have a trailer rated at 7000lbs but it came with a 2" ball coupler rated at 5000lbs had to change to 2 5/16 to get right .

Depending on the model and year of your tractor and how it is equiped you may be in the range of breaking the trailer down, a Late A with fluid and wheel weights and fenders can go up to 8,000 pound,an unstyled A on steel would be about the weight for that trailer, the newer the heavier they get. Dry weight and pressed disk wheels is 4984# for late A, add 250# for cast rear wheels, that is no fenders, gas or anything.

Just bought a 81" wide 16' + 2' dove in March. Tandem 3500 axles one set of brakes. Not the heaviest duty but hauls my Ford 850 like nobody's business. Came with used tires, ramps for $1300

I just bought a 16' utility 7k lb custom built HEAVY duty frame rails etc for 1900. He had dovetailed lighter built ones for 1700. I went as heavy as he had on the place so I would not have to worry about it.

Price of trailers has gone through the roof because of metal prices.

i gave 900 for a used trailer thats similar to yours in n al last year. new ones are about 1600.00 here depending on the size of material used in the frame. if you ever pull a gooseneck trailer you'll never pull another bumper hitch trailer. problem with toeing is you can get more rolling than you can stop. driving slow and giving yourself plenty of room to stop in is key.

I'm not up on bumper pulls much. I did purchase a new 18' van trailer a couple of years ago for construction business. It has 5200 lb axles and if I were hauling an A I would want something heavier then 3500 pounders. You will be border line for GVW's and the tires & brakes on a 3500 axle are typically smaller then the 5200's. But then again how much in use and what type of terrain has a bit to do with it.
