Does anyone know when Allis made haybines? I bought one today at a sale -looks useable for $125. Were they built by Hesston or someone else?
This one is a 9ft and looks like a cross between a Hesston and a New Holland. Are they any good?

After Trying to use It We Knew just Why !We spent a lot of time and money on it before took it to a Sale and sold it.Yes We lost $$$ on it, but dont Miss it !And Yes I Did know of another one a guy bough he had the same problem with his to . [he took his back to another sale near him and got most of his $$$ back. The one you picked up might Be one of the ones that WORKS! Good Luck !!!

If it is Allis Chalmers it can't be a Haybine. Haybine is a trademark of New Holland.

Can you post some pics? That would help. Also what kind of engine does it have? I got a Hesston 310 in Nov., haven't used it yet but I'm getting it ready. It has a Wisconsin VH4D engine. So far I've bought 1 belt and 2 bearings and tune up parts for the engine with no problem. I have some pics in the implement photo section, search for self propelled windrower.

Sorry, I should have said, mine is a self propelled unit. Yours likely is not, for some reason I was thinking yours was.

Loren,

I have an AC-829. Parts are hard to come by. I have some luck with parts from Hesston PT-10. It has been a pretty good mower for my 20 acres. I have a parts manual. If you need info shoot me an e-mail.

They built the 829 in 1966, built the 904 in 1969
and the 390 in 1972. I think they were all built
in house by AC. A friend had a 904 and it really
looked like the Hesston PT model on the outside
but I don't remember much about the working parts
or the rollers.

I had one 30 years ago. Bought it used and had good luck with it on a small field of alfalfa. I don't recall the model number or know who actually made it.

Can't tell you much about one other then if you find out I would like to know also since I have one sitting out front. I will need to do some work to it before I can use it but so far haven't found any info on it
