Who made FORD discs?

There is an upcoming auction with a FORD 12 foot disc listed. I was curious as to who would have built these. Looks to be in good shape, and fairly heavy. I am guessing at 1970"s vintage. Kent in NB

I remember from somewhere that some Ford disks came from Oliver/White, some came from Krause, and some came from Pittsburg, depending on the years sold and what duty level they were.

The 3pt disc that came with our Ford 8N has JD stampings all over it. Noticed them when I repainted it. Plow,dirt scoop and blade hardly have any ID markings.Dan

Kent: Ford did a lot of things quite different in Canada than in the US. I've seen numerous Ford disks over the years and none of them looked like an Oliver or Cockshutt disk. Our neighbor bought a new 10 ft Ford disk in 1968, it in no way resembled a two year old 12ft Cockshutt I had at the time. The design was completely different.

My thoughts are Ford used a different supplier in Canada than in the US. That may have changed later, but I would suggest 10 years later. The reason I say that is we had a Ford dealer at Truro NS that survived into mid 70. We called him the tin can disk man. That guy sold some very light disks. We also had a very good White dealer and it could be the heavy disks were priced so White got the sales.

If it's '70's, it might be White/Oliver, or ?? I think Ford used to make their own, but in the mid to late '70's, they started having them built by White. I know the 240's and similar age models are Whites painted blue, and the older 230's and still older 224's were heavier and NOT Whites. I have a 15' 224 that my Grandpa bought new in the late '60's, and just sold my 12' 230 that had a date of '73 in the owner's manual. If it's one with the roughly 3"x5" tube gang frames, it's one of the heavier, better ones. Just hope you have dual wheels on it, or don't find any mud with it- they sink if you try to raise them to get through a soft spot if they have singles.
