I am new to this and I have owned a 8acre parcel which used to be a field. I cut it about 3 times a year when the weeds get about 2ft high. I would like to clean up the ground there is so much dead vegation and the ground is pretty rough just from car tracks thats is nothing too major. I was wondering if I buy a disc will that do what I want just to clean up the grounds a bit. I have a massey ferguson 165 with 50hp engine, can I use this tractor?

Yes to all the above.

Don't let the weeds get ahead of ya tho. When you see green out there, smack it with your disc.

had similar situation, last corn crop there got late rain, he used big intl with duals to get the crop out, left deep ruts in lower part of the field

nephew "borrowed" that same intl with huge set of discs to knock the ruts down for me, did a great job and he had fun doing it, cost me some diesel and couple cases of LaBatts

in 2 hours he was done, trying to do the same with my light discs would have taken 2 days and not done as good a job

Hi, yes a disc will help, although it will take about 2 to 4 times over depending on soil type, and the quality u r looking for. In my oppinion a heavy framed disc with larg diameter blades would work best, but most/eny should do, if u get a lighter one just ad a bit of weight, to get the desired penatration.
