I am in the market for a new (to me) round baler. I want a NH650, but will consider other brands in the 5-7K range. Can anyone give me some equal model numbers in Vermeer,JD, and Gehl? Things I need:
-Belt chamber instead of chains
-Hydraulic tension
-4' wide bale, at least 5' tall
-auto tie
-twine tie, net is most likely out of my price range.

Mike,

There is a low-houred 638 for sale on ebay right now and it's not too far from you. Looks like it is in your price range too.

I own a Vermeer. I would recommend an I model, preferrably Super I, as in 504 SI or 505 SI for 4 x 5 or 5 x 5 bales, or a 605 J for 5 x 6 bales. Of course if you can afford a K or M baler they would be better.
No experience with JD balers, but I understand the 435 and 535 models up are good balers. No experience with Gehls, but I think the 1470 and 1870 and later balers are good.
