Can't help without a model number.

Any planter, combine, or baler should have a manual with it. I'd sooner own a tractor without a manual than a planter.

If you don't have one, get the model/serial number off the frame of your planter & get a manual from John Deere dealer (or other source).

Planter manuals are generally very good and will answer most all of your questions. There is _very_ much to set up on a new-to-you planter, you really really need a manual.

Same for a baler or a combine.....

After the first year or 2, you might not ever use the manual - one you get it set for what you do. But that first year.....
