seed sensor test

Hi guys,
I was wondering if there was a way to test a seed sensor without buying a testor. I know the basics on how it works, just wanted to see what you guys thought of my idea. On the seed sensors that i have there are 3 wires black (ground) red (power) and green (sensor). Now what i think happens is that the red and black give power to the sensor and when it "sees" something it shots power up the green wire. Now i notice the seed sensor testors that i have seen are 9 volt. So i was wondering if it would be kinda possible to duplicate it, hook some aligator clamps up the black and positive and the 9 volt batter to give power to the sensor. Then with a 9 volt buzzer (pick them up at radioshack for a couple bucks) hook the red off the buzzer to the green on the sensor and the black to the black on the sensor. So thus saying there will be one power hooked up to the red...two wire hooked up the ground (battery and buzzer) and one wire hooked up to the green (red wire on buzzer). Then all i would have to do is drop seeds down the tube, or put something in the way of the path to get the buzzer to go off....you guys think this would work? Let me know what you guys think.

If all went bad at once it is most likly your monitor or the main wire harness connection.

They never all go bad at once.

What would be the best way to find the error in the harness...i notice on the planter there is some kind of box that has the one wire going in and then 6 going out for each row...but that looks good. Thinking about taking monitor to IH dealer to get it checked.

Do you have a plug to unplug at the hitch.

That connection has given us fits before.

Polish with steel wool or use some electrical contact cleaner on it.

If that don't fix it next would be to take the brains to the dealer.

Good Luck

Or swap it out with the one in the next row and if the monitor acts up on the row you moved the suspect sensor to then you know its a bad seed sensor.
