I just got an IH 2pt. fasthitch 2bottom plow. From an old ad [1961] I have manged to identify it as a C-25. But beyond that info is hard to come by. What I really need is to know what bottoms they used in 61, Super Chief? I would also like to find a manual for it, any help appreciated.

Pete: The C-25 plow will not have Super Chief bottoms, probably not even Plow Chief which immediately preceeded Super Chief.

The C-25 was a Canadian built plow, built at Hamilton ON and would either be equipped with GP bottoms or ACE bottoms. I assume by the name Catskill you are somewhere near the so nameed mountains. Grenerally speaking ACE bottoms were only sold in Eastern Canada and New England and the rest got GP bottoms. The ACE bottom was forged at Hamilton and the GP bottom at Canton Illinois.

Do you have a photo of this plow you could put in gallery. If not send me an e mail, I have decent photos of both these bottoms, I feel could help.

Another item we shouldn't rule out, both Plow Chief and Super Chief bottoms will bolt on your plow beams, and work properly, thus some good sole may have changed them over the years.

Hugh check your in box. Given my location, near the Pennsylvania border I guess the source could be either one. I doubt anyone has changed the bottoms. One of the points are broken but the plow doesnt look as if it had been used much. Mostly sitting behind a stone wall for many years. And for the info of you western guys the one thing the Catskill mountains do have besides pretty scenery is STONES and stonewalls.

Hugh

What is the differance between the C25 and the two point F20?

Larry: The F20 is a plow I don't have information on. I have two dealer parts books which cover roughly 65 plows betweem 1930 and 1963, and that is not all of them in that time frame.

I expect that F20 was built at Canton IL. All plows with C in front were built at Hamilton ON, C standing for Canada in this case. The C type plows all have fast hitch forks that pivot sideways and that pivot is controlled by a side hill lever. The fast hitch forks on these Canadian plows are about 4' long and attach and pivot near the back cross member on a two bottom plow.

Tell me a bit about this F plow, I expect the fast hitch forks are about 12 to 18 inches long and are mounted rigid to plow frame, right or wrong?
