Hesston center-line balers

Has anyone had experience with Hesston center-line small square balers? Do they make a more consistant size bale than other balers?

Last year we went from using a New Holland 270 and 310 to a Hesston 4590 and you would have to pay me alot of money to change back to a non-inline baler. With the inline baler's as long as the hay's moisture stays consistant every single bale will be the same, we even went from wheat straw to alfalfa without adjusting the tension. I haven't been around a newer New Holland baler to compare the Hesston to but after one season (about 11,000 bales) we wouldn't give up the Hesston baler. It takes a few minutes to get used to pulling an inline baler but once you do it's so much nicer than a side pull.

I have been considering one, but I was worried about getting an even stiffer neck because I would have to turn farther around to check on it. Has that been a problem for you?

did you handle all those bales by hand or do you run something to handle them. were they all put up in barn hay loft. I do same thing no row crops much anymore all small squares and sometimes feels like you still don't get them all up quick enough and have enough shed space. Looking this season to going to containers for storage.

Last year we handled them all by hand but this year the plan is to have our New Holland 1034 bale wagon running and I'm pretty sure I've got a 15 bale Hoelsher grapple fork bought that's made to work with the bale wagon stacks which should make for the best of both worlds between an accumulator and a bale wagon. I think we are going to put up another barn for hay before summer, I got a price on a 48x64x18' pole building which I think should hold about 8,000 bales stacked up to the trusses. With as short of supply as hay is right now I'm hoping we can sell a couple thousand bales of second cutting right out of the field to help with shed space.

They always say short supply but doesn't seem to affect hay much for me sell same about each season,straw is still the mover for me thou. You will still have to stack the last few rows by hand then in the shed won't ya. I am looking into containers for the sheds,with roll tarps works alot better to hay the different varieties in bays as far as selling goes. I still use accumulator setup. to far to travel for me with the bale wagon unit. Also that way jus t load custiomers units in the fields also. It just works better in my case. Still have time sometimes getting it all in before gets wet, you do too sometime don't ya. Do you have help,you must have. Mine is still solo operation since girls are all married off now.

I just bought a 1033 bale wagon and was concerned that it might be a little particular about the length and squareness of the bale but it sounds like these balers will do it. Thanks for the feedback!!! Do you all use poly twine?

We've been using sisal twine but we saw alot of quality problems with it last summer so as soon as we use up what we have on hand I think we are changing to plastic. The inline balers feed the hay into a pre-compression chamber and when that gets full it feeds into the plunger so it's feeding the same amount of hay into the plunger every time which is why they can make such consistant bales. In one field of third cutting hay last summer on the better soils we were tying a bale every 12 plunger strokes and on the lighter ground it would get up to around 80 strokes yet those bales were just as solid as the bales in the thicker hay. We generally shoot for 12-15 strokes per bale but in heavy straw I've seen that drop as low as 6 strokes which is a bale about every three and a half seconds but it won't make as square of a bale when it's pushed that hard. The 4590 runs at 100 strokes/minute and it takes three good people on the rack to keep up with it at 12 strokes per bale or less.

I only use Bridon poly 170 knot 7200 in single balls,trying 210 knot this season
