Hi All , I have a few questions about some things that are coming up at an auction .

First - A JD 555H 3 - 16 plow . It has some serious problems such as it's got a wheel bearing that is totally worn gone . I couldn't tell if the axle was hurt but I'm going to assume it is . It is missing the lock cap on the rear axle top , the leving lever has had the lock handle welded on the end of the lower base peice so now it's not adjustable and the front tires are blown out through the sidewalls . The moldboards , shins and shares look good but it's missing two out of three landsides . I'm guessing it's scrap but what does everyone here think ? About what should it be worth ? Anyone have any parts laying around ?

Second - A NI 5 - bar rake of unknown model . It looked OK . It was tight but I couldn't turn the basket because it was on the ground with the tongue in the mud . All the bearings seemed tight . about what would this be worth ? One other thing about it - the brace between the front frame rails had a couple bends in it , is this normal ? Everything looked like it was were it should be .

Last but not least - Is a JD F620A 4 - 16 a good plow ? Are they reducable to three bottoms ? About what is one worth ? Thanks for any and all opinions ! ...Randy

I have a F630 3 - 16" plow. It's supposed to be the same as a F620 but with heavy duty trip bottoms. I paid $300, it was in decent shape, had all 3 coulters, but needed tires. They were made in the 60's. Parts are available from Deere and aftermarket, and (at least around here) there are lots of similar plows around, they might be 3 point or semi-mount but a lot of the parts are the same. A F620A should have safty-trip bottoms, so if you hit a rock the bottom trips back instead of the plow unhooking like the older ones. I've only used it last fall so far, but it did a real nice job. I don't know if the 4 bottoms were made to be reduceable or not. It doesn't look like it would take a whole lot of work to do it though. Now when you read all this keep in mind I just wanted a plow for behind my "G" at plow days, not to earn a living on the farm. But I'm happy with mine.

I think I have one of those plows here. Must be something on that thing I could use to fix up mine but I don't remember right off. I know I need a new hitch for it. Mine came with the JD spring loaded clutch trip style. I am pulling with a Farmall so I need the other type where the spring releases the whole plow from the tractor if memory serves me correctly. Anyhow, I might could use some parts if you are scrapping the JD 555.

the plows have not much value, first one mentioned will be licky to get bid, second unit maybe fifty bucks ,but you never know. The last 4 bottom unit I had came to me from auctioneers lot they couldn't get bid of 5 dollars. I sold it to fellow in Minnesota for $350.00. I have two Ih units on lot now Randy if interested. both usable units. Rakes you never know,I usually always get at least $150 out of old junk stuff but if in fairly decent shape they bring $300.00 and way higher pretty easy. Everybody with a horse now days thinks they going to become expert baling there own,has brought the value of older balers mowers and rakes up. Most of those last about year or two find out its alot easier to just buy it. I also have a very nice JD sickle mower coming in never been rained on

sounds like the plow will need some work - probably only worth $30.00 or so. I bought one for $1.00 a few years ago.

In this area any rake that will work will go for around $350 up. Now that one because its sitting that way may go for less but they also might put it up on a block before the auction and if so then it could go higher. Sorry can't help on the plows.
