How much hp for a NH 352 mixmill?

I just bought a nice shape little New Holland mix mill...the 352 model. I am curious what kind of hp I would need to operate it. I have never owned a mix mill before and have always used a belt driven hammer mill. Wondering if the WD45 will make it work or do I need to wait for the 766 to arrive?

If you are hand shoveling Ear Corn ,Shelled Corn,Oats etc. the WD45 will keep up with you,an 190xt would be ideal so a 60-70 HP. Tractor is about right even though a smaller Tractor can get the job done but a little slower. I used both of the above tractors plus some times a D17 ,depending what was available and I could not drag any of them down useing a #12 Aluminum Scoop.

The Allis will do it with its tongue hanging out! We've ground a lot of feed with our DC CASE. It's really too much for it, but you use what you have.

Your Allis will do just fine. The 766 will get-er-done quicker.

Depends on how fine the screen is, how sharp are the hammers, how worn is the ledger plate, air/feed temperature and humidity/moisture.Depends on how many ton you want to grind per hour and what the feed material is.

If you have a real big horse and fill fast, you need to let it mix for a while after it is filled anyway. So take your pick.

I just thought of something else though...the wd45 is a 540 pto and the 766 is 540/1000. How can I tell what the mixmill is set at? I suspect that it is a 1000 pto based on the newer JD tractor that the previous owner was using.

Look at the PTO shaft on the mill. If it is fine spline where it hooks on the tractor it is 1000, coarse spline is 540.
