I have an old warner swasey bakhoe attachment that came off a case 450 dozer. I am preparing to mount it on my d4 caterpillar dozer. I plan on powering the unit with a pto hydraulic pump. This hoe is enomous and will dig about 16feet deep. Does anyone know about how many gallons per minute pump i need?

It all depends on how fast you want to run the hoe. I have a JD 510 TLB with the main boom cylinder being a 6 inch diameter, it is fed oil by a large 6.0 cu in displacement pump (60 gal min) @ 2800psi this gives it a fairly quick travel but a pump of that size will have a large price tag on it. a smaller pump will work for you it will just be a lot slower to operate but if you are not in a hurry speed isnt allways needed. the main thing you need to be concerned about is how much pressure you will be needing to get the job done.

why not run it off your tractor hydraulic, most d4d came with a deactivated 3 valve if not it is not proplem to install a deverter.
