Can anybody tell me the difference between a 50T and a 55T baler. I know the 50 is engine powered and the 55 is PTO, but are there other differences

My Dad and his cousin bought a 50T new right after WW2 was over customed baled for several years with it 100,000 bales a year. It had a Continal on it some of them had a Cub engine. on level land could be pulled with a small tractor, Dad used a Farmall B or Super A unless the hills were to big then used an H The dolly wheel on the front took all the weight off the draw bar, but could cause excitment going down hills some times when it decided to pass you.

Thanks for the info. I have a 50t now. Grew up with one, Dad had it, he bought it new and pulled it with a Ford 8N, latter a 300 international. I baled alot of hay behind it. I found a 55 PTO model in a shed this weekend, it looks mint. I need twine boxes for mine.

50-T Motor, Bale size is 14" X 18", Weight is 4294 lbs.

55-T PTO, Bale size is 15" X 19", Weight is 4121 lbs.

55-T Motor, Bale size is 15" X 19" Weight is 4555 lbs.

I don't know anything about 55t's but I used to have a 50T the early ones had contential y69 4 cyl engines the later ones had cub or A engines. They were a good baler A couple years ago I watched an amish family baleing with one pulled by horses.
