I have a NH 271 with a VH4D Wisconsin and I would like to put a PTO drive on it. Can anyone suggest what model PTO drives will fit?
I have access to a 425 parts baler and it looks like it will fit. The bolt holes in the flywheel look to be the same. I do not know about the tongue length, but I can modify that if necessary. Any help would be helpful.

Only 4 weeks until I will be able to cut wheat hay!
Thanks

The 425 has the support in the driveshaft like the 271. If I have to rework the tongue to make it fit, It probably needs it anyway. I'll get it and see what I can do. The VH4D runs fine, but I would like to cut down on stuff I have to keep running. Plus those belts make me nervous. Not much in the ways of guards in 1964.

i had a 270 and the pto shaft was bolted to the flywheel on one end and hooked to the tractor on the other end- no support in the middle and just 1 universal on each end. the 271 was the same baler with a longer tongue and extra u-joint in the pto, and had a support in the pto near the front of the tongue, iirc. if your flywheel end will fit, i'd say you had the hardest part already solved. i hope this was a little help, but darn little.
