We have a NH 256 rake it has 2 crank handles to lower each side down. And a lever in the left front side that once loosened moves the whole assembly up and down. What adjustment is this for?
And how do you adjust it correctly?

Thanks JDJACk

if you raise the front of the basket up it pitches the hay up higher and makes for a fluyyier windrow in case the hay is a little wet still. the other two level the rake out from side to side. you don"t want to see the teeth striking the ground, but not missing any hay at the same time. unless your field is real level you will occasionaly stir up a litle dust, but if you see dust all the time or can see teeth marks in the ground the rake is set to low. i prefer to cut any hay about 3 to 4 inches off the ground. the stubble keeps the hay off the ground, lets the air circulate under the hay to help dry it out, makes it easier to rake and the grass comes back sooner.

If I remember right that adjustment has to do with how tight or fluffy the windrow depending on the type and condition of the crop. I can not remember which way does what. If you do not get any responses and can not find a manual adjust it from one extreme to the next and see what, if any, differences occur.
