Bought a real nice JD 350 mower today at an auction for $250. Talked to the farmer who sold it. He used it two years ago but it has just sat since then. It looks great-very little rust. Everything moves freely. The belt is weather checked and will be replaced. I will grease and lube it up good. Anything else I should do before hay season to get it ready?

New sections (using bolts) and the newer double guards and clips are a good idea if you have much clearance between the sections and guards. Mike

Sounds like a great deal to me too. My NH 451 was $1000, in excellent shape, was a county owned machine & they rarely use sickles anymore.

You didn't buy it. Stole it is more the word.I have seen those mowers sell for up to $1,800. A great bargain!
