I have a 1952 Case VAC,tricycle Tractor,I am guessing around 20 hp. Skids logs up to 36"-10' long, bushhogs ok in first gear with 5' deck.

What would be the maximum size disk harrow suitable for this tractor? Total width? Number of disks?

thanks in advance,Cary

We have an old 46 VAC. It play's with a 6 foot drag disk here in Kentucky. Ours has about 23 HP with oversized pistons @ the overhaul. In most cases it will work side by side with its contempory the H Farmall even with the 28 inch rims.

Notice, I said in most cases. I'd say our old VAC would pull an 8 foot drag okay in northern types of soil. It was said that They would pull 3 bottom (12 inche) plows in northern Indiana but not here in KY with the clay soil. Only thing the H has up in the VAC was rim size.

We pulled an 8-foot Case disk with an H Farmall and used a drag behind sometimes. This wasn't very hilly ground and that would probably make a difference. Hal

That must be a good one. I to live in Ky. I have my grand pa's VAC and a H and the H will run cicles around my VAC. I have a real good set of two row ciltivators that came new with the VAC. My grand pa thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I suppose it was compared to the horses he used prior to the VAC.

I would recommend the 6-foot disk too. Hal

A VAC is only about 12 HP, but they are good little tractors a 6 foot harrow will work good it should have around 24 disc. It may puul a 7 foot in some cases, but I would go with the 6.
