605C balers are always available at auctions for $300-$500. They are 30+ years old and are a closed throat baler. One major repair and they will be junked. The still will bale hay but time has caught up with them.

Hay Dr, wasn't the C baler the one that the top front roller had a tendency to come loose and fly at the operator? I think I've seen some with a guard welded around the ends of the roller to prevent that.

Anyway, I would try for an open throat baler made in the 1980s and let the C go.

Joe is right. If the product is a little too moist or a little two dry, the 605C can give fits. If everything is just right, they work well.

Don't know how old the 605C is but we have a Vermeer 504C. Baler works ok, I have tryed to get it to make a tighter bale but it won't and the pickup isn't the best. If the bales are left outside they start to droop and fall apart pretty easy. If you are putting them under a shed you might be alright. We bought a Hesston 530 and it works like a champ, 4x4 bale but very simple and easy to use and makes a very tight bale.
