I have a heavy duty one I built With a 10,000 lb. winch on it. It needs to be built according to the size tractor you will use with it. Unless you build it right, with much weight, It will just drag your tractor around. I have a blade on mine that digs in the ground and use a 9000 lb tractor with it. with a blade and a large tractor, you can really move a load. ONe thing that is important is to design your winch spool so the cable cannot wrap around it. That can be a real mess if that happens and it can also ruin your cable. It is one of the handiest things that I have ever owened to use on the farm.

one thing you for sure need to add to the wench however you attach it to the tractor is a guard to keep the cable from flying back at you if it breaks. i don't mean a little something that will just get you by either. i know on mudding vehicles they say throw a blanket or something similar across the cable to keep it from flying back at you. the blade that burys in the ground is the only way to go. trees don't grow in the middle of a two hundred acre field. if your going to make one you might as well make it as big as you can because someday you will find a need for it if you farm or log for a living.

A farmer back home has a heavy duty winch, looks like military grade mounted on a heavy duty back blade hitched to about a 120 hp JD. When combine or cotton picker gets stuck, easily pulls it out with this. It is driven by the pto. When tension is put on the cable,it sucks that back blade into the ground, thus no stress on tractor brakes or gears. No telling what the dern thing will pull.

Just take the bar that goes across the 3 point arms and bolt a plate to it with the winch on it. As for the wench I don't think she'll stay setting there . LOL You'll have to be careful how high you have the 3 point when your useing it or you and the tractor will be upside down.

A friend has one on a channel iron skid. He just ran a pto to an input on pillow blocks then used sprockets to get the power to the sprocket on an old military winch input shaft.

The bottom of the skid has some diggers on it but he usually has to run a chain under the tractor to a tree to hold it in place.
