Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has heard of getting an adaptor for a 1000 pto pump on a IH 800, so it can run off of a 540 and still work?
Thanks guys.

How much air pressure does a 800 take to operate correctly. I was also wondering if any of you know where i could look to get ahold of a 540 pump. Because i think they made the 800 use a 540 or a 1000.

Yes the planters came either way with a 540 or a 1000 pump, the 540 ones are about twice the money of the 1000 pump. I think I saw one sell on ebay a while back at $650 or so. They are not cheap.

I cant remember right off the top of my head what the pressure is that we run at. I want to say it is 8 or 9 on the Hg gauge in the hopper, but I will have to look. I have a mark on the hopper where the needle is supposed to run and I dont look at the numbers anymore, they are normally covered up in dust anyway.

Won't work, you still need to turn it at 1,000rpm or there abouts to get enough air pressure.

Only other option is to get a 540 pump.

I am not sure about that Allan. We have a 900 CIH planter on the 1000 shaft and we dont run the tractor at PTO speed to get the air pressure we need. I think we run about 1700 RPM engine speed to get the correct air pressure.

If you were to run the pump on the 540 side and ran the tractor wide open and above PTO speed, you "may" be able to turn the pump fast enough to get the air pressure you need, but you would be running the tractor a lot faster.

I think it would be worth a try.
