IH No. 3 4 Potato Planter?

Could use some help planting potatoes. The book list "Small, Medium & Large" picker strippers. My planter is equiped with "Medium". Can someone describe what type or size seed potato would required the "Small or Large" picker strippers?
Also, what hill and row spacing is common?

I used my big feet so there was no guessing on the spacing. I would drop a piece of the seed potato at the toe of my boot or shoe and this made
uniform spacing of the seed potatoes. I used 36"
row spacing. I applied granulated fertilizer
directly in the furrow and I would drag a chain through the furrow to mix the fertilizer and soil prior to planting. I would side dress them again
after the plants were big. I usually grew the Kennebec and Red Bliss potatoes. They would get very large. Hal

Just cut all your seed to 1 1/2 to 2" chunks and you'll be just fine.

I'd plant 'em about 7" spacing in 38 to 40" rows.
