Parts source for JD #5 mower

When looking for an online source of parts for my JD #5 mower I found www.depotparts.com. They had every part for the old mower, but I could not purchase them directly. Looks like you have to go through a dealer. Anyone been able to buy parts from them directly? Anyone used a dealer to get parts? Any dealers in New England who can get parts from depotparts.com? Would be nice to have a source of parts for antique equipment. Thanks

the company should have a list of dealers near you. i opened up an account with ww grainger once and just gave them the name of my lawn mower repair shop that i had to give the telephone company some businees name before they would put me a second phone in. thats all grainger asked for was a name. you might give your garage a name or even look into buying a license for a handy man shop for a little or nothing and buy what you need direct. i was going to get a carpenters license years ago and it was like 400.00. the lady asked me what i was going to be doing and i said what ever anybody needs done and she said you need a handy mans license and it was 15.00.

I don't know how it is in your area, but around here both the NH and Deere dealers are set up with Depot Parts.

If I find a part I need on the Depot site, I just call the one of the local dealer parts guys, and tell them I found it on Depot Parts, and to please order it for me. In a few days, I can pick it up at the dealer's.

Do you have a dealer nearby you get along with... give them a call, and ask them to price the part for you through Depot, and order it for you, if the price is workable.
