Did New Holland ever build a right hand rake or were they all left hand ? I have a 256 left hand . It would be nice to have a left & right both hooked together with a tool bar. Just one swipe then. Thanks .

On these New Holland ground driven rakes-can you back up with them, or do you have to get off the tractor to trip the clutch on the ground drive. Looking at Allan's rig I would bet you couldn't back up with a double set like that on a bet. I would like to get a side delivery rake one day, but want to learn more about the different drive types pros/cons.

if I"m not mistook the NH257 (right hand) & NH256 (left hand) had a special dolly for joining them so you could use them in tandem. Such rigs were used in Ohio

Don't think there was a 257... 256 is 8' left hand, 258 is 9' left hand, and 260 is right hand, but I don't know if it's a 8' or 9'. New Holland had at least 2 stlyes of tandem hitches... one that had wheels, and one that was 3-point mounted.

Hey Allen, that one rake sure looks like a NH that has been repainted. Don't you like yellow?

Naw,

The left throw is an IH and the right throw is a Hesston. Luckily, I didn't have to repaint either one of the rascals.

I don't care what color they are anyways; they sure work like a charm. :>)

I think there was a post yesterday about hooking two left hand rakes together. Easier to find around here than a right hander. That is a pretty sweet deal Allan has below. Advantage with a narrow front in his setup would be not driving over the rows.

Yeah,

I'm not a real big fan of raking hay, but sometimes you just have to depending on conditions. A double throw sure makes it nice to across it in a hurry.

Think all the major manufacturers built right-throw rakes.
