I found and old McCormick sickle bar type mower yesterday in an overgrown abandon homestead in GA. I didn"t get any numbers off of it, Just McCormick Chicago USA. It has a seat on it where you would ride, metal spoked wheels, heavy steel frame work, looks to be ground/wheel driven and only about a 5" sickle bar. Was this a horse drawn unit since there is a seat on it? Are these worth anything? The unit looks complete, with linkages and such and in decent but old rusty condition.. i"ll know more when I get it cleared of all the over growth. Please tell me what it is i"m looking at. Thanks

Definately is a horsedrawn mower. Don't know the exact model. Don't get your hopes up on the value. As it is, it is scrap iron. To the Amish, maybe $50. Restore it to useable condition and it might be worth $200 or less. It will make an interesting lawn ornanment.

As another post has said it is a horse drawn mower. If its not been removed, in the middle of the machine on the axle should be a tool box with a lid if its one of the later models. The lid may tell you what model you have. If it has an enclosed gear box on the left side as you stand behind it, and most of the box extends behind the axle, its a NO.9. If the box extends more to the front, its a No.7. If the gearbox is not enclosed and you see gears which are exposed. Its an open gear model which is much older than the No7 or 9. Depending on how wore it is, parts are available and costly for the 7 and 9. I would consider it junk value until I carefully examined it and learned more about what I had.
