Combine sales up 20%. Compact tractors off 14% Utility tractors still Hot, Large tractors off 20%.

Once the corn harvest 2007 starts and if corn is above $4.00 large tractor sales will climb.

Look for all the manufacturers to sell all the combines they can make in 2007.

Mahindra and Kubota's market share in the 40-100 HP market segment continue to increase.

Compact tractor sales off again.

I'm loving it! I'm waiting a year and then putting up an addition on the plasma building for bay hoists and a new exhaust installation area. Just wait until everyone sees what ethanol fuel does to their vehicle exhaust systems. The rest of my acreage I'm putting in hay. Most around here are well advised to do so. With the city 200 miles east and all those big dollar horse people crying for good hay, maybe between the 2 I'll be able to pay the mortgage on time.

Nobody is buying much of anything new in my area.2006 was a bad year here due to drought. The wheat, soybeans, hay, and fescue seed were all poor. Some are out of hay and paying high prices for it.

We did have a decent corn crop but most of it was sold from $2.05 to $2.30 a bushel as lots dont have that much storage. Most were done with corn harvest here in late August. The price didnt go up until Sept. Its amazing how quickly corn prices went up as all the sudden it was discovered that ethanol plants were going up everywhere.

We are very wet right now so maybe the crops will be good in 2007.We had drought here in 2002-2003-2005-2006 but 2007 looks promising due to 12" of moisture this winter. At this time a year ago we had a burn ban on.

$4 corn has sure changed some of the outlook around here. Land rents have gone as high as $300/acre. Equipment prices have raised 20%Ethanol is now higher than the price of Gasoline by 20-25%. Ag interest rates have increased by 20%. Farm income for 2006 is down by 10-15% from '05. Feeder cattle prices have dropped 30% in the last 6 months. Yes, corn prices are good. But, the side effects are going to be long term and the food that we all eat is going to have some premium prices. Our cattle numbers are going to decline sharply with these feed costs. Those fine ethanol plants are here to make a profit and the profit is from selling those distillers grains to china, mexico and other countries looking for alternative protein sources. The future may hold $4 hamburger at McDonalds. After all doesn't a big Mac cost about a bushel of corn

Yup I grew corn in 1973 at $3.95per bushel, we had a bumper crop but the boys we hired opened the combine sieves up too much and put enough to feed cattle back on the ground.Red

$4 corn does NOT pay for one of those combines or tractors in a year or two like it use to. Corn was $7 in the 70s and how much has new equipment and vehicles and cost of living gone up since? Going to see all those tractor companies broke, gone and hurting next just like the overpriced vehicle industry has gotten. Yeah lots of new combines out on lease for custom harvest maybe and all worn out and not paid for when done.

Wasn't corn $4.00 a bushel about 30 years ago? Land, fertilzer, fuel, seed, pickup trucks, equipment, retail groceries havn't kept pace. In the early 80's how many farmers ended up on thier backsides figuring payments with $4.00 corn and increases every year for the next decade.

The midwest farmers are happy but it is true that too much corn or milo could make a difference. But 3.00 corn is not too bad either. I do not farm but it is important that every American make the pedge to support Ethynol at every opportunity. This is one of the most important chances to controll our destiny we may have. No more Arabs!!!!

Are articulated ag tractors included in the 4WD category?

What is the "Dec '06 US Field Inventory"? I suspect I am not reading those numbers right.

Now it is our turn. With ethanol being blended with gasoline all over the country now, corn should stay at $4.00 or higher.Let's not all increse our corn acres this year.Keep the same rotation as in the past.We have all seen what O.P.E.C. has done in the past.Oil prices go up they do not increse production. Oil prices go down, that is when they cut production to make the price go up. Lets take a page from their book for a change. Same acres in corn as last year or less. Remmember,it's all about supply and demand. We have a demand.Let's not over supply the demand.
