I would appreciate some information on this baler such as: age, how much hp required to operate it, size of bale made, reliability, and approximate value. There will be one sold locally at auction. Thanks for your help.

Makes a 4' wide bale up to 60" high. Discontinued after the 2004 season. Arguably the best on the market at the time. Options vary greatly; identify whether Auto Wrap or Bale Commmand, regular or Silage Special.

Had a 648 back in 02-03 had good luck with it,bale slice, net wrap, command plus, you could bale circles around most other balers, only problem someone decided to steal it right out of my drive shed-never saw it again ! we have been running a br740 ever since good baler too but I can't tell you whether one was better then the other.

I can't remember if 648's were 5x5 or 5x4 bales but I have a 638 4x4 baler new in 2001.I think they started in late 90's when they discontinued the chain balers up till 04 when made them look fancier but still the same basic baler .My 638 is easy to operate and pretty much trouble free and makes a nice tight bale. If in good shape it should bring upwards to $10000 .I think netwrap was available on 648's I wish I had it.
