I have one I bought used. Paid $1750 for it. Man does it look rough, first owner must have hit every fence post on his place. But, the old girl runs like a champ. Just give it a good looking over and pay claose attention to the wobble box. Also check the chain sprockets for wear, those dude are a bear to replace.
I think 2500 is fair.

Sam

talking both but the big ticket item is the wobble box. I had to replace the top chain sprocket off the gear box on mine two years ago, teeth were worn out. Man that was a job, really hard to get to.

Check that top sprocket. Ours was bought new, we eventually had a problem. The top sprocket was only attached on one side, so of course it went out. Installing the new one properly was a pain, at least the way we did it, maybe there was a proper way we didn't know about.

Wobble box is the part that makes the sickle bar go back and forth. They have bearings etc that wear out and can be fun and cost a fair bit to fix. Also the rollers are a big thing to look at. If they are comeing apart they can cost a lot to fix also, more then the machine is worth for that matter at around $1000 each

Check oil in main gear box, sometimes they get water in them. I'm a believer in changing the oil in them once a season anyway.
